Connect PostgreSQL or MySQL for backups

המאמר עדיין לא תורגם; הוא מוצג באנגלית.

Any PostgreSQL or MySQL database reachable from the internet can be backed up.

  1. Create a read-only user with the SQL Vigavo shows in step 3 of the wizard (Advanced):
  • PostgreSQL: vigavo_ro with CONNECT, USAGE on the schema and SELECT on all tables and sequences (plus default privileges for new tables).
  • MySQL: vigavo_ro with SELECT, LOCK TABLES, SHOW VIEW, TRIGGER, EVENT on the database.
  1. Make sure the database accepts connections from the internet (allow-list, firewall, SSL settings of your host).
  2. Paste postgresql://vigavo_ro:password@host:5432/dbname or mysql://vigavo_ro:password@host:3306/dbname.

Vigavo connects once to test, runs read-only queries and warns if the user can write. Hosts on private or reserved addresses are refused. The password is kept encrypted and never appears in logs or error messages.

PostgreSQL backups use pg_dump matching your server's major version; MySQL backups use mysqldump. MySQL snapshots can be downloaded; restoring them for you is not available yet. Problems: Connection test failed.
